Annotation. Presentation of the problem. Older people face a number of challenges and opportunities of the digital age. Insufficient knowledge about the use of digital technologies can lead to social isolation, as well as complicate communication with the outside world. Therefore, the development of digital competencies of the elderly is an important area of social policy. Methods. Some of the results of an online survey of Muscovites using the Standard Methodology of the All-Russian Research Program “Socio-cultural Evolution of Russia and its regions” are used. The analysis of digital competencies of elderly Muscovites in terms of their use of various Internet resources is carried out. Results. It was recorded that more than half of the older generation of respondents use news resources and social networks on a daily basis, less than half use online banking services. It was determined that only a third of the elderly use e-mail. It is shown that only a quarter of the older generation of respondents use the Internet for entertainment, games and movies on a daily basis, and almost one in three does not use the Internet at all for this, preferring other types of leisure. It was revealed that only one in five respondents of the older generation makes online purchases on a daily basis, and only one in six or seven uses government services with the same frequency. Conclusions. Thus, the profile of digital competencies of elderly Muscovites has been identified, determined by the socio-cultural characteristics of representatives of this generation, their needs and preferences, values and established way of life. Only the activity of media consumption of news resources by the elderly is comparable to the activity of youth and adults. The activity of using social networks, online banking services, online stores, and online entertainment by the elderly is significantly inferior to the activity of youth and adults.
