Annotation. The subject of the study was the natural population growth rate, as well as legislative and legal documents and scientific papers related to the problem of demography. Research methods. The initial basis for the study was both legislative documents on demography and official international data on the factors that hypothesized their impact on population growth/decline. The international data included official statistics, ratings, and indexes. The data was taken from Russia, the EU, the USA and Canada. Content analysis and correlation and regression analysis were used as methods. Results. The concept of “ecosystem of the natural population growth rate” has been introduced. Regression relationships were constructed/obtained between the natural population growth rate and the factors that were included in the ecosystem. The following factors were considered: the mental characteristics of the population, the quality of public administration, the quality of the regulatory framework, personal consumption, social budget conditions, the state of the environment, the state of family and youth institutions, the state of the professional environment, and environmental deformations. The high correlation coefficient confirmed the importance of the selected factors. A significant correlation was obtained: the effect of the natural population growth rate on the competitiveness of the country, the correlation coefficient is 0.86. Conclusions. The legislative documents do not include all the factors that affect population growth. A system of operational monitoring of those processes that affect population growth, i.e. the natural population growth rate, should also be created. The geopolitical significance of the natural population growth rate was confirmed: its impact on the country’s competitiveness index

Keywords: social ecosystem, natural population growth rate, demography, national projects, regression analysis, family institution, mental characteristics, social deformations, competitiveness of the country.
