Abstract. The purpose of this article is to examine in detail the dynamics of exports and imports of the Russian Federation until 2022 and beyond, as well as to forecast changes in the volume of purchases and supplies of food products in the future. This article analyzes the main changes that have occurred in the food security system of the Russian Federation during the period of sanctions. The authors emphasize that the import and export of food products are important components of Russia’s food security. Applied research methods: content analysis, comparative analysis, economic analysis, political analysis, environmental analysis. Results. The country’s food security is influenced by three groups of factors: economic, political and environmental. Most of the factors present challenges to Russia’s food security system today. In addition, analyzing the current economic situation, these challenges can be complemented by Russia’s dependence on imported technologies and equipment, the complexity of settlements with international partners, logistical problems and a shortage of qualified personnel in the agricultural sector of the economy. Food security means the independence of the State in providing the population with basic foodstuffs that meet certain standards and are necessary for an active and healthy lifestyle. After the introduction of sanctions in 2022, the indicators and structure of imports and exports of the Russian economy have changed dramatically. Many challenges have created a platform of opportunities for modernizing the food security system. Conclusions: reducing dependence on imports, developing technologies and adapting to climate change remain key tasks for Russia.
Keywords: food security, export, import, imposition of sanctions, economic system, income of the population, threats, opportunities.
