IDEOLOGICAL TRAINING OF FACULTY AS A TOOL OF STATE HIGHER EDUCATION POLICY: A POLITICAL SCIENCE ANALYSIS IN THE CONTEXT OF NATIONAL SECURITY

Abstract. Research relevance is determined by the transformation of the global information-ideological landscape, under which the ideological training of the higher education teaching staff acquires strategic importance for ensuring the national security of the Russian Federation, necessitating alignment of the imperatives of the National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation (2021) with academic teaching practices amid information-cognitive security challenges. Methodologies of the study, comprising institutional, subject-activity, and axiological approaches, enabled a multi-level analysis that revealed systemic disparities: at the macro-level, a deficit of interdepartmental coordination in forming the ideological component of educational policy is evident; at the meso-level, fragmentation of additional professional education programs and the absence of unified methodological standards persist; while at the micro-level, insufficiency of teachers’ practical competencies for integrating the value component without compromising academic freedom is observed. Results of the study, therefore, demonstrate the need to transition from fragmented initiatives to systematic methodological support, which, in turn, implies creating inter-university platforms for disseminating best practices and developing partnerships with civil society institutions. Conclusions indicate that implementing these measures can enhance the resilience of the educational environment to destructive influences and strengthen the effectiveness of students’ political socialization, thereby ensuring higher education’s contribution to national security.
